Dove is facing a major backlash from the people especially in USA where their recent advertisement has been perceived by critics as a racist one. Though Dove has finally apologized for the advertisement, it has not much
What was the Advertisement about?
The advertisement showed a black woman removing her T-shirt to show a White woman. The white woman later removed her T shirt to reveal a hispanic woman. Screenshots of the advertosement went viral. Check it out yourself!
The ad was condemned over Social Media and users pointed towards other similar ads in the past which showed Dove in the bad light.
Okay, Dove...

One racist ad makes you suspect.
Two racist ads makes you kinda guilty. pic.twitter.com/hAwNCN84h2
Critics felt that the ad shows the skin of black woman is dirty and white skin is clean. Many users abandoned Dove’s products after seeing the advertisement. No wonder the Hashtag #DonewithDove has been trending since the last few days.
The history also shows that there have been many ads from Unilever over the last century which point towards Racism and that is one of the key reasons why the current adverstisement is also facing such backlash from people across the globe.
What was Dove’s response?
Dove mentioned that their advertisement was intended to celebrate diversity and was created to convey a mesage that Dove body wash is for every woman. However, they got it wrong and their ad
missed the mark in representing women of color.
They have taken down the ad but the screenshots of the advertisement are still circulating.
An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused.

The apology from Dove didnt satisfy the users as they expected a better response.
You can do better than "missed the mark." Flip + diminishing. Deepens your offense. You do good work. Have been for years. Do better here.
