Tired of having a bad hair day (almost every day)? Time to stop snatching out your hair as Team Fabbon is here with a girl-guide to coveted DIY spa tips, taken right from the Grandmother’s diaries to the best friend’s cabinet, for hair so beautiful that it glows!
1. Egg hair spa by Grandma
One of the tricks up Grandma’s sleeves is using eggs to do a hair spa. Rich in protein, it strengthens the hair while preventing hair damage.
Ingredients: Egg and coconut oil
How to use: Take one egg and add sufficient amount of coconut oil to it. Apply it on your hair and wrap it with a towel while leaving it for 20 minutes.
Wash off with a mild shampoo
2. Mummy’s hair tip
Your mother has surely told you the benefits of consuming honey. What she also believes in hair is to use honey as a hair spa treatment.
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon honey and 1 cup raw milk
How to use: Mix one teaspoon of honey with one cup of raw milk. Apply it from the roots to the tip of your hair. Soak for 15 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.
3. What will the neighbour say?
When it comes to your hair, it is actually advisable to heed your neighbour. A hair tip that we picked from our neighbouring aunty is the strawberry and milk mask. Note to self: it’s for your hair not for you to eat!
Ingredients: 1 cup of strawberries, 1 egg yolk and 2 tablespoons of milk.
How to use: Mix the strawberries with egg yolk and milk. Apply it on your hair and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse off with a mild shampoo.
4. Sisterly love
She might irritate you at times, but when it comes to hair she surely knows what to do. One of the hair spa tips that the Fabbon sisters shared is the apple cider vinegar hair treatment.
Ingredients: Water, apple cider vinegar, empty bottle of spray
How to use: Mix equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar in an empty spray bottle and spray the mixture on your hair. Leave it for 5 minutes and wash it off with shampoo and conditioner.
5. Beer is your best friend!
The best friend not only gulps down beer with you, but would also might be a source of very good hairy advice! Like one of the Fabbon teammate’s BFF suggested that to use beer as conditioner, especially if you are struggling with dry hair.
Ingredients: Beer Shampoo
How to use: Wash your hair with Beer shampoo and let it do its magic. Your hair will become silky and smooth after using this shampoo.
6. The mother-in-law tip
If mummy gives you tips on hair treatment, can mother-in-law be far behind? So one of our mates tried a tip by her mom-in-law and it worked wonders for all of us!
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon of honey, 2 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 egg
How to use: Apply the mixture of honey, egg and olive oil on your hair and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water ONLY.
7. The parlour aunty's tip
Every time one of us from Fabbon visit the parlour, we receive a healthy dose of hair tips by the woman who runs it. (Just like most of you)! Eventually we decided to actually try out one and not only did it make our hair shine like Rapunzel, it made it glow in a purely chemical free way!
Ingredients: 4 pieces of cucumber, one egg white, two tablespoons of olive oil
How to use: Make a paste of the egg white with two tablespoons of olive oil and four pieces of cucumber (grated).
Massage and rinse it off with lukewarm water after 15 minutes for smooth and silky hair
Life might not be perfect, but your hair sure can be! ;)
