In a recent candid interview with Sunday Times, Rebel Wilson shared insights into her weight loss journey and how she had briefly used ozempic for losing weight.
She also mentioned the reason why drugs like ozempic can be good for people.
"Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good."
Why She Used Ozempic
Facing pressure to maintain her "funny fat" character in the industry, Wilson sought change after consulting with a fertility doctor.
Rebel opted for using ozempic as her doctor had mentioned that she would have a better chance of getting pregnant through IVF if she reduces weight.
She also adopted a regimen of long walks and a high-protein, low-sugar diet, receiving positive feedback along the way.
Although she used Ozempic to lose weight, she has now stopped using it. She has accepted her "still curvy and solid" body.
In her memoir, "Rebel Rising," Wilson delves into the emotional and physical transformations she's undergone, sparking conversations about her professional experiences, including her reflections on working with Sasha Baron Cohen.
Rebel's Take On Her Recent Weight Gain
Rebel has clarified that she has recently gained almost 30 pounds as she has been working really hard and she has been under a lot of stress.
She mentions,
Working really hard has meant that, coz of all the stress, I’ve gained 14kg’s (30 pounds)! It makes me feel bad about myself…it shouldn’t…but it does. I’m really proud of the work I’ve been doing on new movies and my memoir, it’s just been a LOT and I’ve lost focus on my healthy lifestyle.
A few years back, Rebel lost a staggering 77 pounds by following the Mayr diet, which focused on improving gut health. Rebel admits she used to eat emotionally but tackled her overeating habit to achieve her impressive weight loss.
To achieve her weight loss goals, she ate a high-protein diet including fish, salmon, and chicken breast. Her diet was also rich in fiber. She avoided sugar and junk food in her new weight loss plan, but she still enjoyed treats occasionally.
Wilson's openness about her journey underscores the importance of self-acceptance and resilience in the face of industry expectations. We just hope that she gets back to losing more weight and this recent weight gain of 30 pounds is temporary.
