And its not just you. One of the most stylish celebrities in the country right now, Deepika Padukone has come a long way in her style evolution. Lets take a look.
2007
At promotional events for Om Shanti Om, she wore safe dark brown hair but her attires were a bit of a miss. Heavy Indian wear but unmatched makeup didn’t do well for her.
2008
Although in this particular occasion she tried to tone down her look, the lenses and makeup still don’t do justice to her beauty. Her makeup looks pasty and makes her face look washed out, and the blush is a tad bit much.
2009
As seen for the movie premiere, Chandni Chowk To China in London in 2009, Deepika pulled off the gown amazingly well. In all honesty, this look couldn’t have worked for anyone as the fur coverup was a bit messy.
This was another look from 2009, where she relied on heavy embellished Indian wear. The colours are unflattering and the dark lipstick just isn’t working. Deepika Padukone saree from movies and her outigs have become very popular over the years!
2010
This was the year that she debuted at Cannes. Full props to her for wearing a traditional creation by Rohit Bal. Although the saree itself was quite pretty, it just wasnt red carpet material and the jewlwery and makeup didnt do much justice either. But her hair went through some drastic change, it was shorter with strong highlights and her tall, athletic frame helped pull it off well.
2011
This was the year that her style really transformed. She was seen in sharper silhouettes and developed an edgier style. She was donning what some would call risky outfits and paving her way to becoming a trendsetter. Her wardrobe now accentuated her assets and strong physique instead of curtaining them.
2012
This was the year of Cocktail, where her big brown waves brought out the lioness in her and her wardrobe was a mix of sexy and boho clothing. She was seen in more gowns now, the strapless, sequined Dolce and Gabbana gown at the Vogue Beauty Awards in 2012 was a winner. Anaita Shroff Adajania definitely did a number on her, apart from being a powerful actress she was now a fashion icon.
2013
From a Shehla Khan lehenga to an Alexander McQueen gown to, Deepika was everywhere and looked like the goddess that we know her to be. Being a lover of Sabyasachi Mukerjee’s work, she looked gorgeous donning his Indian wear. She also started experimenting with more fun makeup and lipstick colours.
2013 was also the year of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, when she took up a girl-next-door look that was loved by all of us. Her hair were soft chocolate brown and she matched them with really cute dresses and cardigans.
2014
As her style got bolder, she started to experiment with darker lip shades chic buns. This gold creation by Sabyasachi was the highlight of the IIFA awards, a perfect balance of ethnic and western wear.
2015
From heavy, embellished Indian wear she had moved to effortless styling. With barely-there cholis and long flowy lehengas, sexier gowns, sheer sarees, and comfortable hairstyles she was the fashion icon we all looked up to. By adapting her makeup and hair to her outfits, she looked more natural and elegant.
One of her most famous movies for 2015 was Bajirao Mastani wherein she took her fan following to the next level.
2016
This was the year of athliesure and we loved it. When she wasn’t rocking couture, she was seen in comfortable sportswear basics like leggings and bombers from airports to shoots. And while on red carpet, she was on fire. The red gown at IIFA Awards was one of the best received looks seen on the star.
2017
2017 was a high for her, she killed it both career wise and style wise. Making her Hollywood debut, she was seen in the immaculate white Tommy Hilfiger gown at the Met Ball to the plum tulle Marchesa piece. Her style was one of sleek femme fatale, with her hair in light waves and dull blonde highlights.
2017 also rose her popularity to a new level by breaking all records for the trailer and song launch for movie Padmavati.
2018
This was an amazing year for Deepika Padukone as she tied the knot with Ranveer Singh in Italy in November 2018. From making Cannes appearances to giving one of the most impactful performances in Padmavaat, 2018 was a roller coaster year for Deepika.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were secretly engaged for almost four years before they tied the knot in 2018 in Italy. Deepika Padukone also formed her own company Ka Productions in 2018.
2019
Another year which helped Deepika climb the ladder of success was 2019. She was the only Bollywood actress who made it to the list of The Most Powerful People of India in 2019.
2020
Starting 2020, Ka Productions started producing the films - Chhapaak (2020) and 83 (2021). She won Crystal Award in Davos 2020 for raising awareness around mental health issues.
2021
Deepika kept dazzling in 2021 and every time she made a public apperance, whether in airport looks or an ethnic one, she made heads turn.
2022
She has a lot of upcoming movies in 2022 like ‘Gehraiyaan’, ‘Project K’ and is expected to rule the box office this year as well.
